Tundra Esports Dota 2 Team Review

Harsh, powerful, professional — this is how you can characterize Tundra Esports. Founded by real professionals in the sports management sector, in London, the business capital of Europe, this team had no choice but to become great. Since 2021, from the very first months after its foundation, Tundra Dota 2 has confidently maintained its brand, performing well in Tier 1 tournaments. The Tundra club does not have parallel directions in CS2, as is often the case, but it has squads in Rocket League, Fortnite and FIFA. What unites all these 4 squads? The answer is simple, as our MelBet Pick’em Review will show — they include only the best professionals.

Tundra Esports History

Although Tundra Esports itself, as an organization, dates back to 2019, its start in the arena took place in 2021. Then this UK-based club was able to create its first Dota 2 roster — from a free Mudgolems team, which was assembled to play in various European tournaments. The rise of the Tundra team was rapid — just a year later, in 2022, the team with the triangular logo will take gold at the main world Dota tournament — The International. Today, Tundra Esports is a club with rosters in 4 different games, and continues to hold the bar high in each of them, while also maintaining its main focus on Dota 2.

Tundra Esports Founders

As the club’s website writes, Tundra Esports was founded “with the aim of nurturing eSports talents around the world.” One thing is for sure — the organization was really created with big and ambitious goals, with plans for activities in different disciplines. The founder is billionaire Maxim Demin, a British businessman of Russian origin, who already had extensive experience working with large sports organizations. The co-founders were also Anthony Graham and Michael Munro.

Today, the club is directly managed by experienced professionals — Evgeniy Roshchupkin (CEO), with experience in RedBull and Viber, as well as David Dashtoyan, responsible for commerce and development, who previously headed ForwardGaming.

Tundra Esports Initial Roster

In 2021, Tundra was looking for development directions: the first steps in FIFA had already been taken, development in Rocket League was planned, but there were no serious, full-fledged teams in the club yet. However, the attention of the management was attracted by the Mudgolems team, a free team assembled by the players themselves a year earlier. A contract was signed, and thus the first Tundra Dota 2 roster was formed:

  1. Neta “33” Shapira (Israel);
  2. Malthe “Biver” Winther (Danemark);
  3. Adrian “Fata” Trinks (Germany);
  4. Leon “Nine” Kirilin (Germany);
  5. Oliver “skiter” Lepko (Slovakia).

And it was a winning decision. The first challenge for Tundra Dota 2 was participation in DreamLeague Season 14 DPC EU Upper Division. From there, this roster, except for the quick replacement of Biver with Sneyking (USA) and Fata with Saksa (North Macedonia), will play in Tundra Esports for three whole years (an amazingly long time for the initial rosters). It will win that very TI 11 in 2022, beating all other, more experienced Dota 2 teams in the world, and will be together until the end of 2023, when the team will be restarted.

Tundra Esports Current Roster

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. The Tundra Esports star roster left the team in full in November ’23, after an unsuccessful The International 2023 — they failed to repeat last year’s success, and the team could not even approach the playoffs. The team decided to disperse — some went to Team Falcons, some to Team Liquid. Tundra Esports faced the need to form a new roster. Since then, the club has been experimenting with different players.

As of August 2025, the Tundra Esports roster consists of:

  1. Remco “Crystallis” Arets, Carry (Mar 2025);
  2. Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov, Mid (Jan 2025);
  3. Neta “33” Shapira, Offlane (Sep 2024, return);
  4. Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon, Support (Dec 2023);
  5. Martin “Saksa” Sazdov, Support (Sep 2024, return).

So, now the team has two newcomers, signed this year — Bulgarian bzm and Dutchman Crystallis, as well as Pole Whitemon from the second team, and two old-timers — 33 and Saksa. The current coach is “MoonMeander”, 33-year-old David Tan Boon Yang from Canada. He has been coaching the Tundra roster for over a year and a half.

And we can safely say that the current Tundra Dota 2 roster is doing well — over the past six months, their track record includes two golds at BLAST Slam (II and III). They also won bronze at PGL Wallachia Season 4, which took place in April. 2025. But a big challenge is still ahead — the autumn TI14 in Germany.

Tundra Esports Tournament Achievements

The dynamics of the Dota 2 Tundra team’s success are tricky. A rapid rise in 2022, a loss of positions in 2023, and a recovery in 2024 with a new roster. How 2025 will end for them — we can only guess, but for now, Tundra has the following on their Tier 1 trophy shelf:

  • 1st place at ESL One Fall 2021 ($175,000);
  • 1st place at The International 11, 2022 ($8,500,000+);
  • 3rd place at The International 13, 2024 ($250,000).

Speaking of fees, one cannot fail to mention participation in the Riyadh Masters 2024 — then the team took 4th place, but in terms of the prize ($400,000), this tournament comes in second place after the “gold” at TI11.

Tundra Esports Legends

Although both the first and current Tundra Dota 2 rosters are making progress, it is obvious that the two most important players are those who were with the team at the start, who were responsible for the main victory at TI11. They are also those who continue to fight for its greatness today. We are talking about Neta “33” Shapira and Martin “Saksa” Sazdov. Both are creators of ideas, authors of unconventional strategies that confuse the opponent. 33 is known for using heroes that are not typical for the situation: Visage, Broodmother, Lycan, Beastmaster, while Saksa, an extremely experienced gamer (former member of OG and Ninjas in Pyjamas), is famous for his perfect Toss combos and well-timed initiations.

Tundra Esports Upcoming Tournaments

It is obvious that Valve has already sent an invitation — a serious Tundra next match is expected at TI14, which will be held in Hamburg in September 2025. Will they be able to repeat the “gold” they received three years ago, or at least defend last year’s “bronze”? However, the team will also fight to maintain their current winning streak at more minor tournaments Dota 2. After an absolute victory at BLAST Slam II and III, Slam IV and V remain ahead. The Tundra Dota 2 team will have to defend their champion title at them this November.

FAQ

The Dota Tundra team initially appeared as “Mudgolems” — a loose association of real professionals that emerged during the general lockdown restrictions in 2020. They joined the young British Tundra Esports in 2021 — at that time, the organization was looking for itself in FIFA, and the experience of working with Dota was new to them. However, as the future showed, this cooperation turned out to be more than successful.

The current Tundra Esports Dota 2 roster is international, consisting of 2025 signings Remco “Crystallis” Arets and Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov, as well as old core Neta “33” Shapira, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov, and second-string player Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon.

The team currently ranks 7th in the ESL Pro Tour Leaderboard and 3rd in the Ensigame rankings. Escorenews even ranks Tundra 2nd in the world, placing only Team Spirit higher, while the beta version of the Liquipedia rating system places Tundra at the very top of the list. This data is current as of early August 2025.

As Tundra themselves point out, leadership is currently shared between key experienced players, while the specific role of captain has not been assigned to anyone at the moment. However, Tundra has traditionally managed the team before. The leading role is played by experienced 33 and Saksa, but important decisions are made jointly.

The Tundra coach position is filled by MoonMeander, an incredibly experienced player who was a part of OG and Digital Chaos, and also coached TSM (under his coaching, they took 2nd place at TI11, ironically losing to Tundra). He replaces Aui_2000, who left Tundra along with the core roster at the end of 2023.
