M80 CS2 Team Review
Experience isn’t everything – enter newcomers! With only three years under its belt, m80 CSGO and CS2 (and also Siege X and Valorant) squad has established itself as one of the most exciting newcomers on the global esports stage. Perhaps they didn’t take the scene as a storm, but slowly and steadily, they are rising in the rankings and demonstrating that they can compete on equal terms with the best. At MelBet Pick’em, we have thoroughly researched this American team, including its history, squad, potential, and shortcomings, and are now ready to present our findings to you in this concise review. Let’s assess m80!
M80 History
Compared to some of the other popular CS2 teams, the history of the m80 team is relatively new, having been founded only two years prior to this article, in July 2023. In such a short time, the team underwent significant changes – one of the co-founders stepped down, several players either left or were let go, and new faces rapidly took their place, seamlessly integrating into the team as if they had always been a part of it. Still, m80 esports organisation has established its key strategy in a few years of its history: gather established, skilled players from all over the world and turn them into a competition-ready squad, in which they have, surprisingly (since the team has already claimed around $300.000 total winnings), always succeeded.
M80 Founders
The m80 CS team was created by Marco Mereu (Marco) and Nate Shanker (Nate). Co-founders run the team together, with help from Donald Muir (SyykoNT), a renowned American coach, manager, and commentator, as Vice-President. They all directly worked with the m80 CSGO team and its Siege and Valorant counterparts as business, development, and talent managers. However, after Nate stepped down from his managerial role in 2024, Marco remained as the sole CEO of the organisation. Another interesting fact is that the famous tennis player Daniil Medvedev has joined the organisation’s board as an investor and co-owner at the end of 2023.
M80 Initial Roster
Despite its new status on the scene, the m80 CS2 team management ensured that their original roster comprised experienced players with enough victories in their resume to turn the team into a potential top player from the start. Later, though, the m80 CS team underwent restructuring and a tactical assessment. Here’s the original five:
- Michael “Swisher” Schmid – AWPer, debut year 2017
- Ethan “reck” Serrano – Rifler, debut year 2018
- Marcus “maNkz” Kjeldsen – In-game leader (IGL), debut year 2017
- Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa – Rifler, debut year 2015
- Adam “WolfY” Andersson – AWPer, debut year 2015
- Rory “dephh” Jackson – Coach, joined in 2023
As we’ve mentioned, this M80 roster hasn’t lasted long – the first change came only half a year later, after the team parted ways with WolfY, and the rest followed soon after. Only a single player, Swisher, has remained with the team to this day. However, the coach, depph, once a prolific player himself, has also been with the team from its inception until now.
M80 Current Roster
The current roster of m80 CS2(as of September 2025) has undergone significant changes since 2023, with the most recent update occurring just a couple of months prior, when Reck was invited to join SportsBetExpert, another new team on the block. Here’s the current squad, including the ever-present coach:
- Michael “Swisher” Schmid – Rifler, USA, 27 years old, joined 15.07.2023
- Fritz “slaxz-” Dietrich – AWPer, Germany, 26 years old, joined 13.11.2023
- Elias “s1n” Stein – In-game leader (IGL), Germany, 23 years old, joined 26.03.2024
- Mason “Lake” Sanderson – Rifler, USA, 20 years old, joined 09.07.2024
- Jadan “HexT” Postma – Rifler, Canada, 23 years old, joined 07.07.2025
- Rory “dephh” Jackson – Coach, UK, 33 years old, joined 15.07.2023
This exact M80 CS team is responsible for most of its achievements, including tournament and league victories, earning the majority of the prize money, and making waves on the S-tier scene by ranking among the top six teams in the world.
M80 Tournament Achievements
Speaking of achievements, in CS2 m80 has proven itself to be a fierce yet tactical competitor, continually changing and fine-tuning the roster until it finally found how to work as a single, coherent unit. The latest achievement is finishing in 5/6th place in S-tier tournament Blast Open Fall 2025, a few days before this review – a phenomenal result for a novice team! Last year, they achieved a similar result, finishing in 5/6th position in ESL Pro League Season 20, which won them $32k! M80 CS2 also has numerous wins on B-tier tournaments, most notably in Thunderpick World Championship: North American Series, which they won two years in a row (earning $20k as a result!).
M80 Legends
Considering the CS2 M80 has a mere two years of history, none of its players have achieved the “legendary” status; however, a few members of the m80 esports organisation might be considered potential superstars. One of them is s1n, a German team leader under whose leadership the team achieved most of its victories. Known for his sharp senses, perfect coordination skills, and keeping his head cool in the most dire situations. Another is Lake, the youngest member of the squad, who already makes a name for himself with his reaction speed and adaptability.
M80 Upcoming Tournaments
Currently, the only future event M80 is announced for is the S-tier tournament, ESL Pro League Season 22. 24 teams will compete for a total prize fund of $400.000, the group format starts at the end of September, and we’d advise keeping an eye on the m80 team – they might finally surprise the world and win a big one! Of course, if you never want to skip other tournaments CS2 this game participates in, you can check the schedule at MelBet Pick’em.
