MIBR CS2 Team Review

MIBR CSGO team has one of the longest trackable histories in the eSports industry. Founded in 2003, this Counter-Strike team evolved into a multidisciplinary franchise, with MIBR Esports teams comprising squads for CS2, Valorant, and Siege. Join us as MelBet Pick’em delves deep into MIBR history, achievements, and legends to present our readers with the most comprehensive overview of the team’s past and present.

MIBR History

MIBR (“Made in Brazil”) was founded in 2003 when Rio businessman Paulo Velloso financed his son’s Counter-Strike squad. The team quickly climbed to the top, winning ESWC 2006, Shanghai Open 2007, and IEM III American Championship 2008. After disbanding in 2012, MIBR CSGO was revived in 2018 by Immortals, who acquired the brand and introduced a new roster.

MIBR Founders

MIBR has experienced two major eras in its existence: the original Counter-Strike breakthrough team, which emerged at the beginning of the 2000s, and the resurgence era in MIBR CS GO and CS2, which began in the latter half of the 2010s. Each had separate founders, presidents, and management:

  • Paulo Velloso helmed the original era (2003-2012). His investment through his company, DBA, helped to put MIBR on the map, allowed the team to grow, perform on an international level, and become one of the first teams to invite foreign legionaries into its squad.
  • The new era (2018 – currently) originated under the wing of Immortals, a major American esports franchise, known for its LoL and Dota 2 squads. MIBR’s resurgence was announced directly by Noah Whinston, president of Immortals, who also began managing the business side of MIBR. It has become Immortals’ FPS division, covering CS: GO, RS: Siege, and Valorant. The current president of the organisation is Roberta Coelho.

MIBR Initial Roster

MIBR esports franchise began its history in 2003 as a quite humble team. Their first achievement was CPL Winter 2003, with a meager $6000 prize fund, and here is the squad that has done it and begun a long and storied history:

  1. Eduardo “Corassa” Corassa – AWPer;
  2. Eduardo “Eduzin” Chagas – rifler;
  3. Carlos “KIKO” Segal – rifler;
  4. Rafael “pava” Pavanelli – support;
  5. Rafael “Pred” Velloso – team leader;

Rafael was not just a leader – he was the entire reason the team was formed, as his father had financed and managed the team throughout the years, even after Pred had completed his tenure in the MIBR roster in 2005.

The original MIBR team underwent several changes before establishing its most famous squad, including players like Renato “nak” Nakano and Lincoln “fnx” Lau, which is credited with achieving its most significant success to date: winning the ESWC 2006. Most of its members went on to have long and storied eSports careers, often credited among the most accomplished Counter-Strike players of the 2000s and 2010s.

MIBR Current Roster

In September 2025, MIBR’s squad has the following disposition:

  1. exit – Raphael Lacerda (Brazil, 29 years old) – rifler and current in-game leader for the MIBR CS2 team. Joined the squad back on March 30th, 2021, and has led it since then through thick and thin.
  2. brnz4n – Breno Poletto (Brazil, 22 years old) – joined May 19th, 2022. Rifler.
  3. insani – Felipe Yuji (Brazil, 21 years old) – part of the team from January 17th, 2023. Rifler.
  4. kl1m – Klimentii Krivosheev (Russia, 19 years old) – one of the newest additions on the team, was loaned from G2 Ares and joined on 26th of August, 2025. AWPer.
  5. Qikert – Aleksei Golubev (Kazakhstan, 26 years old) – another recently joined player on loan from PARIVISION, which was officially announced on September 8th, 2025. Rifler and potential in-game leader.
  • Coach: jnt – Jhonatan Silva (Brazil, 31 years old), who, until recently, was part of MIBR’s biggest rivals, Furia (albeit their female squad). Helmed the team on March 13th, 2025.

Also, the MIBR CS2 roster includes two benched players:

  • nicks – Nicollas Polonio (Brazil, 20 years old) – Rifler, joined 14th of July, 2025, but was benched only two months later, on September 8th, 2025.
  • saffee – Rafael Costa (Brazil, 30 years old) – AWPer. Became a part of the team on August 25th, 2023, but was benched on 25th of August, 2025.

The current MIBR CS2 squad lacks notable achievements. In recent years, they’ve been moderately successful in C to A-tier tournaments (most recently winning ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2024). Still, they rarely went past the group stages in the S-level events.

MIBR Tournament Achievements

In recent years, the MIBR CS2 team has experienced a slight regression compared to its golden years in the 2000s and its resurgence in the late 2010s. Still, over 22 years of history, the team has accumulated impressive victories and won fabulous prizes, such as:

  • ESWC 2006 – S-Tier, $52,000
  • shgOpen 2007 – S-Tier, $21146
  • Esports Championship Series Season 6 – Finals (2018)– S-Tier, 2nd place, $120,000
  • Flashpoint Season 1 (2020) – S-Tier, 2nd place, $250,000
  • ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2024 – A-Tier, $50,000

In 2025, however, MIBR Esports hasn’t achieved any significant results or victories, even in lower-tier tournaments, which may change after the current restructuring.

MIBR Legends

Throughout its long and storied history, the CS2 MIBR team has been home to numerous legendary players. The complete list might deserve an article of its own, so we’ll focus on the most notable ones:

  • Raphael “cogu” Camargo – the architect of the team’s earliest successes, widely regarded as one of the best Counter-Strike players of the 2000s. He has been a part of every major victory earned by MIBR at the time, including the ESWC 2006 title.
  • Marcelo “coldzera” David – one of the greatest players of all time, ranked 1st by HLTV for two years in a row (2016 and 2017).
  • Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo – another world champion alongside coldzera, who transferred from SK Gaming to MIBR CS. He stuck with the team for longer and became emblematic of the team’s growing potential from 2017 to 2020.

MIBR Upcoming Tournaments

2025 was a turbulent year for the MIBR team – no major victories in tournaments of any level, a change of coach, and benching half the team, but the latter part of the year might be more successful. For one, the upcoming tournaments CS2 don’t seem particularly challenging for a team of their caliber (ESL Challenger League Season 50 and FERJEE Rush 2025 in September/October 2025, both being B-Tier) and will allow them to test their new roster. The real challenge, however, will start in the middle of October 2025 – CS Asia Championships 2025. One of the latest loans, Qikert, carries high hopes for the team’s fans. Will he be able to meet expectations?

FAQ

The team was founded in 2003. However, the original MIBR Esports dissolved in 2012. CSGO MIBR team was reborn in 2018 under the Immortals’ management and has remained one of their brands ever since.

The current MIBR roster features five active players: exit (Raphael Lacerda), brnz4n (Breno Poletto), insani (Felipe Yuji), kl1m (Klimentii Krivosheev), and Qikert (Aleksei Golubev). Benched players include nicks (Nicollas Polonio) and saffee (Rafael Costa).

According to the most quotable CS-themed website HLTV, as of September 2025, the CS2 mibr team holds a far-reaching 40th place globally in the CS2 team rankings. If the latest signings succeed, though, expect the team rating to rise.

For the last four years, exit has been a permanent MIBR IGL. His tactical prowess and quick thinking have kept the team afloat throughout its greatest successes and hardest failures in the 2020s; however, now he’ll face stiff competition from Qikert with his extensive IGL experience.

The current MIBR coach is Jonathan Silva, jnt. He once played for the team in the late 2010s and early 2020s and has been helming the team since March of this year. Following his impressive success at FURIA, he now plays a significant role in the MIBR CS restructuring and renewal after a series of unimpressive performances throughout the year.
