A young, ambitious, strong team that quite unexpectedly burst into the top lines of the ratings a few years ago — and continues to hold them, despite the pressure. This is Gaimin Gladiators, a club from Canada, also known as “gladiators”, or simply “GG”. The organization initially relied on several games, including Rocket League and CS 2, but the title of the star team immediately went to the Dota 2 team.

The secret of their success is in their high cohesion and focus on the goal. Brought together from different teams, having completely different characters and styles, the gladiators each time demonstrate a feat of team coherence and discipline. Gaimin Gladiators History

Gaimin Gladiators started in 2022 — in several directions at once. In February 22, the British company GaiminIo, engaged in the fields of blockchain and gaming (which is clear from the name), signed an agreement with the young сanadian organization OCG Esports Club. This was the beginning of three teams of “gladiators”: in Dota 2, Apex Legends and Rocket League. The company will also try its hand at CS, Rainbow 6, but will soon close these areas.

It was with Dota that GG managed to achieve success: the new team quickly went up, adding good results and crowding out the permanent inhabitants of the world tops. Over three years of existence, the team’s portfolio includes several won majors and an approach to victory at TI.

Gaimin Gladiators Founders

Formerly OCG Esports Club, now Gaimin Gladiators. This is an eSports organization founded in Canada in 2019. At its origins are Shawn Porter, now Gaimin Gladiators CEO, and Nick Cuccovillo, President of the organization. Nothing is known about the club’s activities from 2019 to 2022 — apparently, the start of cooperation with GaiminIo was the first experience for the organization.

Gaimin Gladiators Initial Roster

Like many teams, Gaimin Gladiators was not formed from scratch, but has predecessors in the form of other Dota 2 teams. The initial roster was taken from Team Tickles, a young team that was created in 2021 from former Vikin.gg members. Team Tickles played quite well in Tier 2 and Tier 3 tournaments, but did not rise higher. In February, they joined the “gladiators”:

Overall, over the three years of its existence, the team has included 8 different players, making the Dota 2 Gaimin Gladiators team a rather conservative club in terms of roster. Gaimin Gladiators Current Roster

Three players left the initial Gaimin Gladiators roster — BOOM went to Team Spirit, dyrachyo — to Tundra Esports, and Seleri — to Mouz. Three new players came in their place. Now, in August 2025, the Gaimin Gladiators Dota 2 roster looks like this:

The big problem for the Gaimin Gladiators team was the departure of “Dyrachyo” in the fall of 2024. The calm approach of the new carry, “watson”, is radically different from the style of his predecessor. Dyrachyo was an aggressive, tempo player who rushed forward — and the team literally built its rhythm and tactics around him, so the adaptation process was difficult. However, everything seems to have worked out well. Including thanks to Aske “Cy-” Larsen, the current coach, a 29-year-old amateur player from Denmark.

According to the Gaimin Gladiators players themselves, the team relaxed a bit after TI13, but is now back at the peak of its power — and ready for new achievements.

Gaimin Gladiators Legends

Gaimin Gladiators Dota 2 is currently in the process of climbing to the top of its success — a young, close-knit team equally shares its contribution to the overall success. It is worth highlighting, perhaps, the players of the initial lineup — it is this core that sets the bar high since 2022. Ace and dyrachyo can safely be considered legends — different, but equally talented.

The first is a veteran of the scene: 31 years old, with many teams and tournaments behind him. He managed to play in Team Secret, take a long break in his career, and again ascend to the top with Gaimin Gladiators. The Dane has earned respect for his versatility, because he plays both tempo-making heroes and frontliners well. His opposite is the young dyrachyo, a player with an innovative approach, who has become a living symbol of the “gladiators” and a nightmare for their opponents. Today he left the team — but forever inscribed his name in the Gaimin Gladiators Dota 2 hall of fame.

Gaimin Gladiators Upcoming Tournaments

In 2025, Gaimin Gladiators slightly lost ground at the current tournaments Dota 2 — the team rebuild had an effect. Of the achievements for the current year, only silver at PGL Wallachia Season 5. However, the “gladiators” are working hard on themselves — after all, the new Hamburg TI14 is just around the corner, where they want to finally take the last line, reaching an absolute victory. Or at least keep their place in the top three.
