HEROIC Dota 2 Team Review
Heroic themselves need no introduction – they’ve long established themselves as a powerful force in Counter-Strike. In recent years, HEROIC CS2 has repeatedly reached the global top ten. However, this Norwegian club has now acquired Valorant and Fortnite teams, and since 2024, they’ve also had a Dota 2 roster in the LATAM region. The team is already showing solid results, even at the Tier 1 level. In a new review from MelBet Pick’em, we explore the reasons behind this location and the likelihood that it will help the Dota 2 HEROIC team become a new global leader.
HEROIC History
The history of HEROIC esports begins with CS, specifically with the CSGO team Team X – a temporary tag under which Norwegian players who left SK Gaming began playing in 2016. The project proved extremely successful, so the Norwegian management decided to expand into other disciplines. For many esports clubs, having their own Dota 2 teams is practically mandatory, but HEROIC only launched their own branch in the legendary MOBA as their seventh.
The first Dota 2 roster was assembled in January 2024, and just two months later, they participated in their first Tier 1 tournament (DreamLeague Season 22), also successfully qualifying for TI13 later that year.
HEROIC Founders
HEROIC, both as a tag and as an organization, emerged thanks to the organizers of BLAST Premier. It was they (a Danish venture capital fund) who first recognized the new team’s potential and proposed partnership. Over the next nine years, HEROIC’s ownership would change several times, changing hands among various European organizations and funds from Denmark, Finland, and Norway.
Currently, the Dota 2 HEROIC team is owned by a Norwegian legal entity. The management team is primarily specialists from Norway and Denmark. The current CEO is Norwegian Oliver “Offensive O” Valsgaard, and Robin “Bumblebee” Nymann, also from Norway, serves as the Director of Esports.
HEROIC Initial Roster
When the HEROIC Dota 2 roster was being formed, management decided to leave the European region, as the competition there at the top qualifiers was too intense. Latin America, due to its rapidly growing esports scene, was chosen as a new starting point. The emerging roster included players from Brazil and Peru, with the exception of Belgian “Davai Lama”:
- Hector Antonio “K1” Rodriguez–IGL;
- João Gabriel “4nalog” Giannini Santos;
- Cedric “Davai Lama” Deckmyn;
- Elvis Joel “Scofield” De la Cruz Peña;
- Matheus Santos Jungles “KJ” Diniz.
This initial HEROIC Dota 2 roster was assembled from a diverse group of players—for example, “K1” had previously played for beastcoast for a long time, while “KJ” and “4nalog” were members of KeydStars. Manager Vitória “Guashi” Otero also joined the team from beastcoast.
HEROIC hired Igor “kaffs” Estevão as coach, having begun his coaching career nine months earlier. His first team was Evil Geniuses, but he was left behind after the core players moved to BOOM Esports.
HEROIC Current Roster
As of October 2025, the HEROIC roster in Dota 2 has experienced two player changes. K1 and 4nalog left the team (Davai Lama left first, but 4nalog was removed in September 2025, and the Belgian was reinstated):
- Matheus Santos Jungles “KJ” Diniz–IGL;
- Yuma “Yuma” Langlet;
- Adrián “Wisper” Céspedes Dobles;
- Cedric “Davai Lama” Deckmyn;
- Elvis Joel “Scofield” De la Cruz Peña.
New additions to the roster include Yuma “Yuma” Langlet from Nicaragua and Adrián “Wisper” Dobles, formerly the OG team member. They joined the HEROIC Dota roster on January 1, 2025. Both are experienced players who have already participated in The International.
But the roster’s performance hasn’t changed much compared to the previous year. The team successfully qualified for The International again, rising from 9th-12th place in 2024 to 5th-6th place in 2025. However, they failed to repeat their success from winning PGL Wallachia Season 2 in the fall of 2024. In the new 2025 seasons – 3rd, 4th, and 5th – HEROIC finished in just 9th-11th place.
HEROIC Tournament Achievements
Team HEROIC immediately set their sights on the top echelon. Without wasting energy on regional events, they strive to seize every opportunity to compete with the world’s top teams. Since their inception, they’ve participated in seventeen Tier 1 tournaments and three Tier 2 events—and here are their best results (as of October 2025):
- 1st place at PGL Wallachia Season 2, 2024 (Tier 2, $300,000);
- 5-6 place at The International 2025 (Tier 1, $140,000+);
- 9-12 place at The International 2024 (Tier 1, $55,000+).
HEROIC Dota 2 team also participated in the Riyadh Masters 2024, a tournament renowned for its large payouts. Players only managed to finish in 13th-14th place, but earned them a hefty $70,000 in prize money.
HEROIC Legends
HEROIC esports journey in Dota 2 is just beginning, and it’s difficult to say how far they are from their stellar roster and their greatest victories. Perhaps two players stand out right now—very different, but who have defined the team’s current success.
The first is Park “Parker” Ferreira, a Peruvian player who has been with the HEROIC Dota team for only two months. Many believe it was his aggressive drive and talent as a carry that allowed the young South American roster to snatch gold at PGL Wallachia Season 2. His complete opposite is Matheus “KJ” Santos “Jungles Diniz,” the team’s longtime captain. A consistent support player and master of Phoenix and Chen, he skillfully reads maps, the emotions, and potential of his teammates, and is undoubtedly the foundation of all of HEROIC’s current achievements in Dota.
HEROIC Upcoming Tournaments
It’s clear that team HEROIC Dota 2 will continue to challenge the current leaders of the global top 10. They will soon participate in BLAST Slam V and VI, as well as DreamLeague Season 27. They will also test their strength again at PGL Wallachia Season 6. This is a significant event for the team among all other Dota 2 tournaments – after achieving gold in Season 2 (October 2024), HEROIC was unable to build on their success at PGL Wallachia or even reach the top 5. Will Davai Lama’s latest return to the team help them break their losing streak? It’s still unclear.
