Top 5 Mongolian Dota 2 Teams

Dota 2 is a game that’s about to hit its 12th anniversary on July 9th. Over the years, it has been downloaded by over 90 million players, and more than 1500 professional esports teams have emerged worldwide. Today, I’m going to take a look at the 5 most well-known Mongolian teams in Dota 2. And sure, while many of these teams are mainly recognized within Mongolia, that doesn’t mean they should be overlooked. Each team has its own story, unforgettable victories, and moments that have shaped them into iconic esports figures. So, let’s dive in!

5. The MongolZ – $36,500

The Dota 2 division of The MongolZ (MGLZ) takes 5th place in my list, representing Mongolia in the SEA & Oceania region. Founded in 2014, they’ve earned their place in the esports world with over a decade of experience, playing 250+ matches with a win rate of around 37%. Their crowning achievement came with 1st place at AsiaPro League Season 2, bagging a solid prize pool. MGLZ has shown consistency, with a record 7-match win streak and a 9-match losing streak.

Current roster:

  1. FortuneSoul – Carry;
  2. Osocle – Mid;
  3. Panda – Offlane;
  4. Ace12 – Support;
  5. Winter – Support.

The MongolZ Dota 2 Team

Key results:

  • 5th-8th, Esports World Cup 2025: SEA Open Qualifier;
  • 4th, EPL World Series: SEA Season 4, $500 prize;
  • 1st, AsiaPro League Season 2, $15,000 prize;
  • 2nd, Asian Dragon Series: Continental Collision, $12,000 prize.

With over 60 tournament appearances and 7 direct invites, The MongolZ may not always finish on top, but their recent strong performances—like 4th place at European Pro League World Series and participation in high-profile events such as ESL One Raleigh 2025 and DreamLeague Season 25—show their long-term commitment to Mongolian Dota 2 esports.

It’s also worth noting that, as of now, the updated roster has not yet participated in official matches. However, it has been announced for a month that this team will compete in the TI14 Qualifiers, and who knows, they might have a chance to qualify for The International 2025, which will be available for free predictions on MelBet Pick’em. In any case, I will wholeheartedly support them both in the qualifiers and in the tournament itself – which I sincerely hope for.

4. IHC Esports – $57,066

IHC Esports is a rising Dota 2 team from Mongolia, competing in the SEA & Oceania region. Since bursting onto the scene in April 2023, they’ve quickly made their mark, playing over 120 matches with a solid 50% win rate. Their journey includes a six-match win streak and a strong second-place finish in a major regional tournament, securing them $15,000. While they haven’t reached the global stage just yet, their impressive consistency and rapid climb up regional rankings suggest they’re a team to watch.

Former squad:

  1. FortuneSoul – Carry (left the team on September 26, 2024);
  2. Ikigai – Mid (left the team on September 26, 2024);
  3. 11 – Offlane (left the team on September 26, 2024);
  4. Ace12 – Support (left the team on September 26, 2024);
  5. khishka – Support (left the team on September 26, 2024).

IHC Esports Dota 2 Team

Key results:

  • 1st-2nd, Elite League Season 2: SEA Open Qualifier #1, 2:0 vs Yangon Galacticos;
  • 2nd, The International 2024: SEA Open Qualifier #2, 0:1 vs TNC Predator;
  • 1st, MESA Champions Winter 2023-2024, 3:2 vs Team Tough, $1,901 prize;
  • 2nd, RES Regional Series: SEA #1, 0:2 vs Talon Esports, $15,000 prize;
  • 3rd-4th, ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 SEA Open Qualifier #1, 2:0 vs Wizard King.

Currently, IHC Esports has yet to confirm a new roster after their previous one was released. Interestingly, three of their former players are now part of The MongolZ. As for the team’s future, the start was promising, but international success remains elusive. Ten months have passed since the roster disbanded, and there have been no updates on potential replacements or the team’s next steps.

3. Team Tough – $78,093

Team Tough (TT) is undeniably one of the most exciting Mongolian Dota 2 teams to watch, and they rightfully claim the 3rd spot in my list. Since their debut in March 2023, the team made an immediate impact, securing an impressive 10-match winning streak in 2024 — a real statement on the esports scene! While they initially struggled with a 10-match losing streak, they quickly bounced back, claiming top spots in multiple major tournaments. Their crowning achievement was winning RES Regional Series SEA #4, earning $25,000.

Current roster:

  1. 423 — Carry;
  2. Bob — Mid (Philippines);
  3. seimei — Offlane;
  4. Tsukimoto — Support;
  5. Se — Support.

Team Tough Dota 2

Key results:

  • 1st, RES RS SEA #4, August 13, 2024 — $25,000;
  • 2nd, RES RS SEA #3, June 18, 2024 — $15,000;
  • 1st, RES RS SEA #2, April 17, 2024 — $25,000;
  • 3rd, RES RS SEA #1, February 21, 2024 — $5,000;
  • 2nd, MESA Champions 2023-2024, February 2, 2024 — $877;
  • 1st, MESA S2, November 25, 2023 — $7,216.

Team Tough continues to impress with their growth and ability to compete at the highest level. Despite participating in 15 tournaments, they’ve shown their true potential, earning direct invites to half of them. While early struggles, such as disappointing performances in Epulze DPC Southeast Asia 2023 Tour 2 and DreamLeague Season 22, were setbacks, the team quickly adapted and demonstrated remarkable resilience. With multiple top-3 finishes in high-profile tournaments like the RES Regional Series, Team Tough has earned their spot among the region’s elite teams.

2. Team Mongolia – $78,576

Team Mongolia (MGL) takes second place in my ranking, and these guys truly deserve all the recognition! Since their Dota 2 debut, they’ve quickly made a name for themselves, with their standout victory at the IESF World Championship 2023, earning $50,000. And this is just the beginning! They’re on a roll, consistently achieving excellent results at major tournaments.

Current roster:

  1. Se — Carry;
  2. Osocle — Mid;
  3. 11 — Offlane;
  4. Tsukimoto — Support;
  5. Mudi — Support.

Team Mongolia Dota 2

Key results:

  • 1st place, IESF 2023, Sept 3, 2023 — $50,000;
  • 1st place, IeSF 2020 (East Asia), Dec 2, 2020 — $2,550;
  • 2nd place, OESG 2024, Oct 25, 2024 — $12,987;
  • 3rd place, IESF 2023 (Asia), Sept 3, 2023 — $2,000;
  • 4th place, IESF 2024, Nov 19, 2024 — $10,000.

Team Mongolia has already proven they’re a force to be reckoned with in the Dota 2 scene. Although their journey has been relatively short, they’ve already secured top spots at some of the biggest tournaments, showing they can compete with the very best. They’re steadily building a reputation both globally and within the Mongolian Dota 2 community. If they keep up their momentum, the future is looking very bright, with many more victories to come!

1. Lilgun – $132,244

First place in my top goes to Lilgun, a Mongolian Dota 2 team with the largest prize pool in Mongolia’s Dota 2 history. With $132,000 in their pocket, they certainly stand out among other teams. However, it’s important to note that their roster disbanded back in 2023, and to this day, the team has not presented a new lineup. This top-1 team is now inactive, without a roster and activity for the past two years!

Former squad:

  1. Trill – Carry (left the team on March 19, 2023);
  2. 423 – Mid (left the team on April 12, 2023);
  3. eleven – Offlane (left the team on February 16, 2023);
  4. Ace12 – Support (left the team on April 12, 2023);
  5. Se – Support (left the team on April 12, 2023).

Lilgun Dota 2 Team

Key results:

  • 1st, APPL 2022 (Mongolia), November 13, 2022 — $4,000;
  • 1st, JJNC 2022, July 2, 2022 — $4,800;
  • 2nd, DPC SEA Tour 3 (Lower Division), July 16, 2022 — $16,000;
  • 1st, MESA S1, April 16, 2022 — $4,195;
  • 4th, DPC SEA Tour 2 (Lower Division), April 23, 2022 — $11,000.

Lilgun Dota 2 quickly gained popularity, but after the roster disbanded in 2023, the team has not announced any further moves. There have been no updates regarding the new roster or the team’s future activities, although their past successes undeniably make them legends of the Mongolian Dota 2 scene.

Mongolian Dota 2 Teams That Made It

Well, I hope you enjoyed my list of Mongolian Dota 2 teams. Even though there are no global superstars in this list (though The MongolZ can be considered famous due to their success in CS2), these teams are our own, and I will always support them in tournaments. Of course, I hope that Lilgun and IHC Esports will announce new rosters, and we will see their victories again. Perhaps, in the future, they will even find themselves in S-Tier Dota 2 tournaments!
