We’re starting our top 5 most expensive Dota 2 items with an extremely rare set for Pugna: the Golden Nether Lord’s Regalia Set, complete with an Immortal weapon. According to Reddit collectors, the complete set was purchased in 2019 for approximately $16,000.
This set was developed in collaboration with professional player BzzIsPerfect and released as part of the exclusive Trust of the Benefactor 2016 series. Each item in this series was limited in quantity. According to Steam, only 25 copies of the Golden Nether Lord’s Regalia Set exist.
This set, which ranks among the most expensive Dota 2 items, has quite a few unique features. The combination of gilded textures, reworked models and particles, and visual effects for the Nether Ward, coupled with its limited edition, fully justifies its price. And at this point, a perfectly logical question might occur to you: “What $20,000? It’s worth a few cents on the Steam Community Market!” Yes, you’re partially right. However, the item sold wasn’t an ordinary helmet, something you can find for pennies on the market, but a unique helmet inlaid with an Ethereal Gem: Trail of Burning Doom. It grants this hero a rare visual effect of fire all around them. It also leaves a trail when moving. This unique combination of effects isn’t provided by any other cosmetic item in Dota 2.
The item itself, with this combination, is no longer obtainable. It’s a product of the good old Dota 2 system from 2013-2014, when Valve allowed you to insert unusual stones from couriers into hero items. They provided various visual effects (glow, flame, ghostly appearance, etc.). After the Source 2 updates and Dota 2’s transition to the new system, Valve removed this mechanic, and such items became collectible artifacts in Dota 2.

We’re talking about the same Legacy Pink Couriers, but a whopping eight of them! This set was sold relatively recently, in 2020. The seller, incidentally, is a former player and owner of paiN Gaming, Artur “PAADA” Kuriati. And yes, if you read carefully, the skin from the previous spot on our list of most expensive Dota 2 items was also sold by this player.
The total transaction value at the time was approximately $235,000. The buyer was a well-known Russian collector nicknamed The Emperor. The transaction itself was conducted in two Bitcoin transactions. Interestingly, if you were to recalculate the transaction based on the Bitcoin price increase in November 2025, it would be as much as 2 million dollars!
As for the collection itself, it contains some of the rarest couriers in the history of the game:

Speaking of the item itself, it’s known within the Dota 2 community as “The No. 1 Courier in the World.” The thing is, it’s the only known item in Dota 2 history to feature five gems (we explained why they’re so rare in the description of the item ranked fourth on our list). As a result, the Platinum Baby Roshan has four rare effects:
