The MongolZ Map Pool Revealed: Strengths, Weaknesses, and Picks

If you’re a true fan of The MongolZ, then just like me — and tens of thousands of other devoted viewers — you want to know everything about them. We follow every CS2 tournament, analyze highlights, and dig into the personal stories of the players. But beyond the wins, losses, and esports drama, there’s one aspect many fans of The MongolZ CS2 Team tend to overlook — the map pool.

The maps a team plays on define its style, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Which CS2 map will The MongolZ pick first? Where do they dominate? And which maps do they try to avoid at all costs? In this exclusive breakdown for MelBet Pick’em, I’ll go over the entire map pool of The MongolZ!

Map Pool Overview of The MongolZ CS2

The map pool in CS2 isn’t something you can explain in just a few words. You could talk about it endlessly — so many maps, shifting metas, team playstyles, win rates, picks, and bans. With The MongolZ, it’s not simple either. On some maps, they dominate; on others, it’s like they don’t even show up.

Most Played Maps of The MongolZ

The first thing worth mentioning is the total number of matches The MongolZ have played on different CS2 maps. As of August 8, their overall map count stands at 851 — and that’s already enough to draw meaningful conclusions about how The MongolZ map pool is structured.

Distribution of Played Maps The MongolZ CS2

Among all maps, two stand out as consistent picks in official matches of The MongolZ CS2 team:

  • Mirage — played 180 times;
  • Inferno — played 139 times.

These maps are the foundation of The MongolZ’s map pool. Mirage and Inferno are most frequently picked, and the team regularly uses them in both BO1 and BO3 formats. But it’s important to understand: playing a map often doesn’t mean they’re unbeatable on it. At the recent IEM Cologne 2025, in a match against Vitality, these two maps were selected — and unfortunately, The MongolZ lost. This once again proves that even “home” maps aren’t always enough against a top-tier opponent.

Map Picks and Bans in CS2 Matches

The next thing we need to talk about is the map picks and bans of The MongolZ. After all, this is exactly what reveals where the team truly feels confident — and which maps they clearly prefer to avoid.

Most Picked Maps in The MongolZ Map Pool

According to statistics, two favorite maps stand out in the map pool of The MongolZ CS2 team — Mirage (54.9%) and Cache (46.2%). These are the maps most frequently picked and often played in important matches. They’ve long been the foundation of The MongolZ’s map pool: the team feels comfortable on them and knows how to dominate both in BO1 and BO3 formats. It’s their territory, and their opponents know it.

Most Banned Maps in The MongolZ Map Pool

When it comes to bans, things are just as clear. Vertigo is a map that The MongolZ almost always avoid. It’s been banned in 97% of matches, and that’s no coincidence. In second place is Train (51.5%). Despite having a decent win rate, this map is consistently banned — especially against stronger opponents. Apparently, it doesn’t fit the team’s current strategy or playstyle.

Win Rate of The MongolZ by CS2 Maps

If you take a look at the win rate of The MongolZ CS2 team, it becomes immediately clear which maps are their true strongholds. The absolute leader is Ancient, with an impressive 69.7% win rate. Slightly behind, but still solid, are Dust2 (61.9%) and Mirage (58.9%) — these maps have long been a core part of The MongolZ’s primary map pool, and almost always deliver results.

The middle of the list also looks stable: Cache (56.7%), Train (55.3%), Inferno (54.0%), and Cobblestone (53.8%). These are maps the team can confidently play in official matches, especially against opponents of similar skill level. With proper preparation, they can lead to victory — even if not as consistently as the Ancient.

But then comes the danger zone. Nuke, with a win rate of 45.3%, Overpass at 48.9%, and Vertigo, played only twice with a 50.0% result, clearly do not fall under comfortable maps. These positions in The MongolZ map pool are more about necessity than strategic preference. And it’s exactly here that opponents of The MongolZ often look for weaknesses.

Which Map Could Become The MongolZ’s Next Strength

After reviewing all the nuances of The MongolZ map pool, I’m left with one question — which map could become their next strong side? The CS2 team already has reliable pillars like Ancient, Mirage, and Dust2, but any top-tier roster needs to evolve and expand its pool.

There are a few candidates: Inferno is the most obvious and stable option, though it still lacks some consistency. Train might make a comeback, or maybe we’ll suddenly see an upgrade on Nuke. For now — we wait. The next tournaments The MongolZ will play in are just around the corner, and that’s where they’ll show what they’ve really been working on!
