Dan “apEX” Madesclaire Overview

ApEX is a national hero in France: there have never been any other esports athletes like him in its history. He began his career in CS Source, back when earning money in CS was unimaginable. But 15 years later, he and ZywOo, another French legend, would build a top-ranked CS2 team in the world, and their combined prize money would exceed several million dollars. In our new MelBet Pick’em review, we feature apEX CS2 player – an eSports athlete with multiple world records.

ApEX Path to Esports

As a child, Dan was a typical boy: he liked football and disliked school. Born in 1993 in eastern France, from the age of five he spent all his free time either playing or watching matches.

However, as apEX recalls, when he was 14 (in 2007), an internet cafe opened in his city. This changed his priorities – Dan became a lifelong CS fan after discovering the then-popular CS:GO Source. This new love further hindered his studies, and he was later expelled from his technical school. His family was very unhappy – no one knew then that Dan and his teammates would go on to win hundreds of thousands of dollars playing CS:GO.

ApEX Professional Career

ApEX played his first amateur matches in 2008. By 2009, he was already competing in his first A-tier tournament. After playing through a series of amateur French teams, the 18-year-old apEX CS Source player first joined 3DMAX, then moved to the then-top-tier French team VeryGames.

It was with this team that he achieved his first significant result – third place at Copenhagen Games 2011: Source (A-tier) in 2011. Two years later, he achieved a world championship: apEX CSGO player LDLC took first place at the S-tier tournament, ESL Major Series One – Summer 2013. Then came Team EnVyUs, and the crowning achievement of any esports player’s career: victory at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015. The entire world learned about the aggressive French entry fragger. Back then, it seemed like his peak. But everything was still to come.

In 2017, apEX CSGO player joined G2, where he was lured. But it wasn’t there that apEX truly blossomed, but with Vitality, where he joined in 2018. Dan has been playing with them for the past seven years.

ApEX Current Team & Role

In 2018, it seemed that 25-year-old apEX’s career with G2 was approaching its glorious end. The founding of a new French project, Team Vitality, was met with skepticism by many. But Dan accepted the offer and joined the new team. Results were limited during the first few years, but in 2019, he achieved a breakthrough with victory at EPICENTER 2019 (S-tier).

In 2021, apEX CSGO player became the team’s captain. This was an unusual position for a player known for his uncontrollable aggression as an entry fragger. But it turned out to be the right choice – Madesclaire proved to be an excellent leader and strategist. Vitality progressed alongside him, and finally won the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, the last Major in CS:GO history.

Two years later, apEX returned his team to the world podium again – this time in CS2. Vitality takes first place at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. This is a unique story for France: there has never been a greater captain or a greater team.

ApEX Records & Awards

Over the course of his 27-year career, apEX has set several unique world records. For example, apEX holds the world record for most S-tier victories (33 trophies). And while he doesn’t hold the record for most Major wins (3 tournaments compared to dupreeh’s 5), he is the only one to have won all three with different rosters.

At the same time, apEX Vitality player holds the title of the oldest Major winner in history (at 32 years old), proving that an esports career only begins after 30!
