William “mezii” Merriman Overview
A former Fnatic mainstay and now an indispensable member of Vitality, William “mezii” Merriman hails from Britain, a country where professional sports are still more popular among young people than esports. This has earned mezii national fame as one of the most successful CS players today. It’s well-deserved – together with his current team, mezii is actively setting new records and winning gold at global tournaments. We break down every detail of his rise to the top in this classic MelBet Pick’em review.
Mezii Path to Esports
Mezii CS player could have formed a full-fledged esports team from his family. Besides his four brothers, all keen gamers (mezii complains that they had to constantly compete for the home PC as a child), Merriman Sr. was also keen on gaming. He introduced his son to CS:GO when he was nine years old.
William became truly engrossed in the game – while everyone else was watching football, he’d watch tournament footage on gaming TV channels. At 16, he reached Global Elite in matchmaking and began attending local LAN tournaments with friends. The beginning of his future career had begun.
Mezii Professional Career
William joined his first professional team in 2016, at the age of 18. His first team was the British local team Dog Gaming. He would later join Team XENEX, Orgles5, London Esports, and Vexed Gaming. Mezii’s career is notable for the fact that he never settled down in any one team for long – only the last two teams did he spend more than two years with, while the others lasted about a year.
His first serious, global teams arrived in 2020 – first GamerLegion, then Cloud9. It was with Cloud9 that he first competed in A-tier and S-tier tournaments. At this point, the 22-year-old William prioritized his studies over esports, choosing esports over his studies.
After a short stint with Endpoint in 2021, he joined Fnatic, where he immediately became a key player. Together with the French club, he achieves his first significant results – 1st place at DreamHack Open November 2021 and REPUBLEAGUE Season 2 (A-tier), participating in a major for the first time.
Mezii Current Team & Role
At the last CS:GO Major, Paris 2023, Fnatic finished ninth, while Vitality took first. Merriman assessed his competitors’ performance and, in the fall of 2023, joined a new team, replacing “Magisk” in Vitality.
In his new team, William plays the role of rifler/support and anchor—basically, doing the dirty work for the rest of the team. But mezii is happy. At fnatic, he had the opportunity to try out both anchor and IGL, and says the former is easier. Less responsibility means more focus on a specific task—covering weak spots and backing up the stars.
Considering that mezii CS2 player has been playing for his current team for two years, he has had a hand in most of the victories of Vitality’s current “golden period” – victory at ESL Grand Slam Season 5, as well as gold at the BLAST Premier: World Final 2023 and BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 tournaments.
Mezii Records & Awards
Mezii CS2 player doesn’t hold the MVP title, but he was named EVP at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. Previously, while playing for Fnatic, he received media praise for his excellent performance at the Elisa Masters Espoo 2022, although he didn’t receive an official title from the organizers.
Merriman, however, holds many national records — for example, he is the first and, so far, only British player to win a Major.
