Aurora Gaming CS2 Team Review
Aurora is a relatively young eSports organization, counting its history since 2022. The club includes teams in 5 different games — from the niche Mobile Legends to the famous Dota 2 and CS2. The main star of Aurora Esports has always been the Counter Strike team, which won local tournaments well, but lagged behind in the international arena. However, in 2025, everything changed — the team’s success went up sharply. Is this a temporary effect, or are we witnessing the birth of a new regular in the world tops — we analyze in the review from MelBet Pick’em.
Aurora History
Even though Aurora operates many rosters today, this club was created with a clear focus on CS. The organization was registered in August 2022 in Serbia, signed its first roster at the end of the same month, and began trying to play in the first serious championships (including A-Tier) in the fall 2022.
However, Aurora CSGO roster did not show much success — since 2023, the team has been consistently in the top 40 in the world ranking among CS2 teams, but did not rise higher. In parallel with this, work was underway to enter other disciplines by buying out the rosters of other teams: for example, in 2022, Aurora added a roster for Apex Legends, in 2023 — for Dota 2 and Mobile Legends, and in 2024 — for Warcraft 3. And finally, success was achieved: in 2025, after successful changes, Aurora CS2 managed to break into the top 10 in the world according to HLTV.
Aurora Founders
It is difficult to talk about the founders of Aurora Gaming — the history of this eSports organization is too vague. It is only known for sure that it was founded in August 2022, officially in Serbia. However, everything indicates that the key people in the club, as well as the owners and managers, are Russian citizens.
According to available information, Aurora Gaming owner and main investor is Valery “L3rich” Kharitonov from Russia. He is also the main face of the company at tournaments and other events. His right hand is Adalat “krookie” Mamedov, the current Aurora Esports CEO, with extensive experience in managing eSports projects.
Aurora Initial Roster
The starting lineup of Aurora CS did not last long. It consisted of Sugar, delus1oon, RAiLWAY, Kairon- and Lack1. Of all of them, only the last one would end up playing for the team for a significant time — the rest would drop out in less than 3 months.
The second lineup can safely be considered truly significant for Aurora — it turned out to be stable in both participants and results, although it did not achieve outstanding success. Formed in December 2022, it consisted entirely of Russian players:
- Evgeniy “Norwi” Ermolin (IGL);
- Ivan “SELLTER” Miroshnikov;
- Vladislav “lattykk” Vydrin;
- Aleksandr “KENSI” Gurkin;
- Viktor “Lack1” Boldyrev;
lattykk and SELLTER were replaced a year later — there were no stable members of the team in their place. This Aurora roster trained under the guidance of different coaches — the greatest contribution was made by Evgeny “bullet” Batkin and Stepan “brain” Sivoronov. It is this roster that is responsible for Aurora’s main achievement so far — a successful performance at Skyesports tournaments in 2024.
Aurora Current Roster
Despite their triumph in 2024, a year later, Aurora’s management had complaints about the roster: an insufficient number of VRS points prevented the team from approaching the main event of the year: BLAST.tv Major: Austin 2025.
A decision was made to make a radical change: the entire Aurora Gaming roster was sent to the bench. Instead, they were replaced by players bought from the Turkish club Eternal Fire, which was experiencing financial difficulties. It consisted of 5 Turkish players:
- Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli (IGL);
- Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş;
- Ozgur “woxic” Eker;
- Ali Haydar “Wicadia” Yalcin;
- Samet “jottAAA” Koklu;
Along with the team, the coach, Sezgin “Fabre” Kalaycı, also moved to Aurora. He is a good specialist: his coaching portfolio includes 2nd place for his team at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, and also second place at ESL Pro League Season 20.
The update turned out to be a successful decision: 6 days after the replacement, the new Aurora CS2 roster performed well at PGL Bucharest 2025, reaching the quarterfinals, and a month later — showed itself excellently at PGL Astana 2025, taking third place. Apparently, the new roster is exactly what will take Aurora Gaming to a completely new level.
Aurora Tournament Achievements
Team Aurora’s outstanding achievements are shared between the old and new teams. Thus, in 2023-2024 the team managed to take:
- 1st place at Skyesports Masters 2024 (A-tier, $105,000) — legendary victory over OG team;
- 3-4th place at Skyesports Championship 2024 (S-tier, $35,000);
- 2nd place at CCT Season 1 Online Finals #5 (A-tier, $40,000).
Meanwhile, the new 2025 roster has already achieved, frankly speaking, more outstanding results in the 4 months of its functioning in the Aurora CS team:
- 2nd place at Esports World Cup 2025 (S-tier, $230,000);
- 3rd place at PGL Astana 2025 (S-tier, $75,000).
He also performed well at such S-tier events as Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2025 (5-6 place) and BLAST Bounty Fall 2025 (5-8 place).
Aurora Legends
While the new CS2 roster does raise the bar, it’s hard not to note the success of the previous masters. SELLTER, Norwi, and Lack1 — their records have yet to be broken: they played for Aurora the longest and achieved an outstanding 17-game winning streak (2023). This made Aurora CS2 famous on the world stage even before their success on the S-tier in 2025. They are credited with beating many top teams, including OG in 2024.
Aurora Upcoming Tournaments
It is known for sure that Aurora CS will appear at ESL Pro League Season 22 — the team is invited to Stage 2. The current roster has already taken 2nd place in Season 20, but in 21 it dropped to 5-8 place — therefore, the players have something to return to.
The players also showed good results at other recent Major tournaments CS. For example, at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 in February 2025, they took 5-8 place — so we can confidently expect them to qualify for StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, which will take place on December 25.
As for the Aurora CS2 next match specifically, it will take place on FISSURE Playground #2 (S-tier) in September 2025.
