MOUZ History

MOUZ was established in 2002 in Berlin, Germany. It is one of Europe’s most reputable esports organizations. The club initially started with Counter-Strike but quickly expanded to include options such as Dota 2, Warcraft III, and Quake 4. A defining moment in its history was in 2007 when MOUZ merged with Nihilum, expanding its reach to other disciplines like World of Warcraft, LoL, and StarCraft II.

Over the years, the MOUZ CSGO roster has performed well, achieving over 20 first-place finishes between 2019 and 2020. This includes victories in the ESL Pro League and cs_summit during this period. The organization has also faced significant losses, including the disbanding of its LoL team after 12 years.

MOUZ Founders

MOUZ was founded by René Lategan, one of the pioneers of esports in Germany. His vision was to build a world-standard esports team focused on Counter-Strike. This led to the establishment of MOUZ, which was a member of the now-defunct group, G7 Teams. As the organization grew, it expanded into other disciplines, such as Dota 2 and Warcraft II.

Alexander T. Müller later joined as a central figure in the leadership. His role as CEO helped transform MOUZ into an international brand, enhancing its financial stability and driving strategic growth.

Together, Lategan and Müller have remained within the organization’s structure, building the squad into a launch pad for many stars from Germany. They were also instrumental in the transition from MOUZ CS GO to CS2 in 2023, marking a new chapter in the club’s history.

MOUZ Initial Roster

The very first MOUZ roster consisted of players that only a few will know. Nevertheless, we must mention them, as they played significant roles in the birth of CS: GO in Germany and worldwide.

The roster experienced different changes in its early years. Some players left to pursue stable careers, as esports weren’t paying well at the time. However, Navid “Kapio” Javadi took over as the coach in 2016. He managed the team, leading them to the MLG Major: Columbus 2016. That same year, he was replaced by Serhii “lmbt” Bezhanov.

This initial roster primarily focused on the domestic scene (2002-2007), including competitions such as ESL Meisterschaft. This helped the squad progress to higher levels, winning the ESL Pro Series Germany. It helped MOUZ gain recognition in CS: GO and set the stage for the later successes and reputation.

Since 2019, the MOUZ CS2 roster has been on a winning streak, winning the ESL Pro League Season 10 (2019). Other notable achievements that MOUZ IGL has enjoyed include the CS: GO Asia Championships 2019, ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, ESL Pro League Season 18, and Season 19.

MOUZ Legends

Finn “Karrigan” Andersen joined MOUZ in early 2019, playing a considerable role in reviving the roster. His time as the in-game leader pushed the squad to win different tournaments, including CS: GO Asia Championships 2019, ESL Pro League Season 10, and ICE Challenge 2020. The 35-year-old player also personally mentored younger players, including David “frozen” Čerňanský and Robin “ropz” Kool, helping the roster achieve its aim to develop its academy.

Nikola “NiKo” Kovač became a MOUZ player in March 2015 and the roster’s star Rifler at the time. His consistent performances, including the ability to turn games around, helped the roster finish well at various tournaments. Some include Acer Predator Masters Season 2 and ESL One: New York 2016.
