Danil “molodoy” Golubenko Overview

He changed FURIA‘s policy: for the first time in its eight years of existence, the club signed a non-Brazilian player, and even hired a Russian-speaking coach to ease his adaptation. And the legendary IGL, FalleN, personally flew to Europe to welcome the new player. Such honors for today’s number one esports player from Kazakhstan, Danil “molodoy” Golubenko. As early as 2024, he was playing in local Kazakhstani CS2 tournaments, and in 2025, he was already receiving awards from HLTV. In a new article, MelBet Pick’em attempted to uncover the reasons and background behind his meteoric rise.

Molodoy Path to Esports

Danil was born in 2005 to a Russian family in the large city of Semey, in eastern Kazakhstan. His gaming journey began at age 12. However, Golubenko didn’t have a proper PC, so he and his friends became regulars at local computer clubs. By age 14, Danil was already playing in Kazakh LAN tournaments, and doing quite well.

His parents, however, didn’t appreciate their son’s passion. Later, he would even have to leave home amidst conflict to attend his first bootcamp in the capital. But someone who recognized Danil’s talent early on was the owner of the computer club where the future molodoy CS player spent time. He gave the boy a unique perk—unlimited PC use, something Danil later recalled with gratitude on more than one occasion.

Molodoy Professional Career

Golubenko’s first years on the professional scene weren’t an overnight success. He played his first C-tier tournament at the age of 15, at the 2020 Legion Mid Asia Cup, as part of the Barys mix. He wasn’t part of a serious team until he reached adulthood, but at 19, he received an invitation to ALLINERS, a respectable Kazakh Tier 3 club. There, the youngster achieved his first victory at the META Cup Season 1 (C-tier) and earned his first small prize money.

Then molodoy CS2 player was then noticed by members of DMZ, another Kazakh club, who were in need of a sniper. Danil played with them from the fall of 2024, and in early 2025, the entire team was signed by the Kazakh club AMKAL ESPORTS. Here, the young player’s talent finally blossomed – Danil literally tore apart his competitors in Tier 3 and Tier 2, posting incredible ratings. He stood out from the rest of the roster, and many immediately began arguing about which of the top CS2 teams would ultimately sign the talented sniper.

Molodoy Current Team & Role

The 20-year-old sniper was rumored to be in the sights of both NaVi and fnatic, but it was Brazil’s FURIA that ultimately made the offer. It was quite unexpected: no non-Brazilian had ever played for the club before.

In an interview, Danil says adapting wasn’t easy: the long flights were tiring, and communicating in English was even more so. However, molodoy CS2 player overcame all the difficulties, as his motivation was so strong. He greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with fellow sniper FalleN, a true CS legend who agreed to relinquish his classic role to him at FURIA.

2025 was a real breakthrough year for Golubenko: rising from the bottom of Tier 2 to the top globally, his first participations and victories at S-tier events (first place at FISSURE Playground #2), and immense attention from the media, sponsors, and fans. Today, he’s showing very good, though not always consistent, results. Incidentally, despite a more aggressive style than FalleN, molodoy cfg still has the same “old-school” feel: low sensitivity, 400 DPI, 52 cm/rev.

Molodoy Records & Award

In a year of playing at the world’s top level, Danil has already managed to shine on numerous occasions, even among legendary CS2 players. In the fall of 2025, molodoy CS2 player earned two MVP medals: at FURIA’s victories at FISSURE Playground #2 and Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2025. This and other achievements placed him sixth in the HLTV rankings and earned him the title of “Rookie of the Year 2025.”
