The team was founded by Victor “Nazgul” Goossens as a Dutch StarCraft: Brood War clan in 2000. The team signed its first roster of professional players following the launch of Starcraft II in 2012, expanding into DOTA 2 in 2012, and later added other divisions. The team’s administration finally fell to aXiomatic in 2016 after it gained a controlling interest. By 2018/2019, Team Liquid’s divisions were already making waves. In 2019, the Liquid CSGO squad delivered one of the most iconic runs by winning the Intel Grand Slam in record time, recording four major tournament victories in just 63 days.
