Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz Overview
Dev1ce isn’t just a legend; he’s the man who changed Counter-Strike and forever etched his name in the game’s hall of fame. He and his teammates essentially cemented Denmark’s place as a top esports country in the 2010s, setting countless records that still stand and winning dozens of tournaments.
At the same time, the device CS2 player’s entire 15-year career has been a constant struggle with challenges and overcoming them. We’ve compiled all the highlights from the legendary Dane’s life in the new MelBet Pick’em review.
Dev1ce Path to Esports
Now, after so many awards, medals, and titles, it’s funny to say that dev1ce never really planned on playing CS — though it’s true. In his youth, his main passion was badminton—he excelled at the professional level, winning Danish tournaments. He was predicted to have a distinguished sports career, but health problems prevented these plans from coming true.
After leaving the sport at 14, Nikolai switched full-time to the shooter to reintroduce the competitive spirit. His older brother had introduced him to the game. It immediately became apparent that the future dev1ce was very talented in this field as well — he memorized maps perfectly and controlled the game well.
Dev1ce Professional Career
In 2009, Nikolai participated in his first C-tier tournament, along with an amateur mix—even before he retired from badminton. His first professional team was the Copenhagen Wolves, which he joined at age 15. It was there that he met Xyp9x and dupreeh, strong CS2 players who would later form the legendary danish dream team.
The trio changed teams while remaining a cohesive core: Team Dignitas, Team SoloMid, and then, with the help of like-minded management, broke away altogether to form the independent club “?” in 2015. In 2016, it would be renamed “Astralis,” and the following years would mark the peak of d1vice’s career.
Ultimately, dev1ce CS player and his team achieved so many accomplishments over the years that it’s difficult to list them all: four gold and two bronze medals at Majors, absolute dominance on the global stage, and millions in prize money. Of course, this story wasn’t all about victories – Nikolai spent 2021 in a weakened NiP for personal reasons, and in 2022, he left the scene for a year, leading fans to believe it was the end of his career.
Dev1ce Current Team & Role
Health issues plagued dev1ce Astralis AWPer throughout his career. Both physical ailments and psychological difficulties caused by the enormous workload hampered his performances. Time was also taking its toll – by the end of 2026, Nikolai was no longer 20. His teammates had already retired – dupreeh had become an analyst, and Xyp9x had taken up coaching.
Considering the dismal results of the new Astralis roster at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 (the Danes finished in 17th place, along with Tier 2 CS2 teams), dev1ce CS2 player realized this was the end of the Danish tag. This realization coincided with the sudden news from the American esports media club 100 Thieves. After five years of focusing on LoL and Valorant, the Americans decided to try their luck in Counter-Strike again, signing FaZe legend Håvard “rain” Nygaard and three young players.
100 Thieves is another ambitious experiment in CS, an attempt to drastically combine youthful energy with the incredible experience of veterans. For dev1ce CS2 player, this isn’t a retirement, but a highly interesting challenge. He joined the new team in early 2026.
Dev1ce Records & Award
For a long time, dev1ce held the record for most MVP medals, ultimately losing only to s1mple. His final career tally is 19 titles (third place in the world!), including two Majors. In terms of Major victories, dev1ce CS2 player is second only to his colleague dupreeh.
